Exercise efficacy in management of Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy – A case report

Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy is an ageing, degenerative spinal condition and a common cause of myelopathy in adults, with the average age presentation being 56 years. This case report was on 63-year man who apparently healthy until he presented grade v Nurick Classification System for Myelopathy. Lhermitte Sign present. The clinical presentations were motor deficit upper limbs (ULs), lower (LLs) hands; intermittent bouts spasms limbs; painfully reduced range motion (ROM) shoulder, cervical lumbosacral joints; impaired activity daily living (ADL) including ambulation, sleeping hours. treatment plan aimed to relieve pain at affected improve ROM joints ULs LLs; strengthen weak muscles (ULs LLs); trunk control; patella mobility release tight muscle/structures(hamstrings). adopted Exercise protocols, which done between 11 am-1 pm thrice weekly appointments four months, Mobilization & Strengthening Exercises (all limbs); Back Flexibility Exercises; Quadriceps both LLs Neuromotor Exercises. patient became stable tripod stand fourth month discharged home programme end month. observed improvement this lays credence efficacy use exercise interventions condition.
